Scale Back Alabama is a 10-week program to encourage Alabamians to lose weight and exercise more. The goal is to lose 10 pounds in 10 weeks. This is a state-wide program that UAB is participating in, so you can view the official site at www.scalebackalabama.com

- Teams of four people will compete to see if all team members can lose at least 10 pounds or about one pound per week.
- Team members DO NOT have to weigh-in together at UAB. Choose the best location and time for your schedule.
- Participants DO NOT have to weigh-in at the same location as their teammates, but they will need to know their team name and captain.
- Prize drawings will include participants losing 1 pound to 10 pounds, and teams where all members lose 10 pounds…independent of teammate's performance. COMMIT to attending a weigh-out, no matter how much or how little progress you have made. You must weigh-out between April 7-11 to be eligible for prizes.
- To be eligible for the statewide prizes, you must weigh in at an official site January 21 – 24 and weigh out during the week of April 7-11.
- Teams completing the 10-week contest with members losing at least 10 pounds will be included in a drawing for one of three grand prizes of $1,000, $500, and $250 per team member.
- All individuals who lose at least 10 pounds will be included in a drawing for one of 50 achievement prizes of $100 per person
- All individuals losing at least 1 pound will be included in a drawing for one of 5 participation prizes of $50
- UAB Wellness will have a prize drawings exclusive for UAB participants as well.
- The UAB weigh-in schedule will be posted soon as our room reservations are confirmed.
