After-Hours AccessThe Lister Hill Library at University Hospital supports the clinical activities of health care providers at UAB. The library will be accessible after regular operating hours upon request and by approval of library staff to individuals having ongoing patient care responsibilities at University Hospital, including the following:
- House Staff
- Other personnel who work night shifts and whose duties require access to knowledge-based resources
- Third- and fourth-year medical students on clinical rotation

Table of Contents Service
The Lister Hill Library at UAB University Hospital (LHL@UH) offers a Table of Contents service to provide UAB clinicians with an easy and effective way to keep up with the biomedical literature. With this service, you will receive by email on a weekly basis the tables of contents from up to ten (10) journals with online content. Full text for the journals may be available electronically through the Lister Hill Library of the Health Sciences.You may identify journals to include in your TOC subscription in the following ways:
Copying, Printing and ScanningA printer is available and requires a UAB CampusCard for payment. Contact the library for current charges.

ComputersEleven Windows workstations are available in the library for patron use, providing access to all the resources available through Lister Hill Library. Microsoft Office 2007 productivity software is available. Two of the machines are on the CenterNet network, providing access to the Internet and hospital systems. The workstations are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Contact the library for current printing charges and additional information.
Document Delivery ServicesLHL@UH participates in Lister Hill Library's Document Delivery services (ILLiad). Patrons may request copies of articles through the library's website. Contact the library for current charges and additional information.
Reference ServicesTwo full-time Librarians and a full-time Library Associate are available to assist with literature searches, answer reference questions, and provide assistance and training in locating information. Requests for these services may be made in person, by telephone, by email, or by fax.
Book Delivery Service
Do you need books from Lister Hill Library, but can’t get there? Clinicians have two options for having books from the LHL circulating collection delivered. Books in the LHL@UH collection are reference only and cannot be checked out.
