Health Sciences Reference Librarians
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Libraries are seeking creative, energetic, and flexible librarians for the reference team at Lister Hill Library of the Health Sciences. This is an exciting opportunity to join UAB Libraries as the campus libraries transform into one 21st century library. Responsibilities for these positions include liaison activities for one of the UAB health sciences schools, research consultations, classroom, web-based and customized instruction, online and database searching, reference service with some rotating weekend hours, and participation on library and university committees. The successful candidates are expected to contribute to the profession and to build a record of progressive scholarly and professional achievement.
Clinical Research and Education Librarian
UAB Libraries is seeking a creative, energetic, and flexible librarian to fill an exciting new faculty position embedded in the clinical setting within the Department of Anesthesiology. This individual will manage the programmatic aspects of the Anesthesiology department’s medical library, including the collection and organization of material related to department’s history and management of content in several areas for department’s website(s). Other activities include: providing in-depth research consultations and reference services; building collaborative relationships with resident and attending physicians, medical students, and staff; and attending conferences, rounds, and some lectures, providing immediate information as requested using current technology and resources. In addition, the librarian will collaborate with researchers on journal club, courses, anesthesiology history, systematic reviews of the literature, and other clinically-focused projects. The successful candidate is expected to participate on library and university committees, contribute to the profession, and build a record of progressive scholarly and professional achievement.
