Upcoming Events

Together with the Office of Public Health Practice, we brought Lois Gibbs to campus October 8-10.

Gibbs, a grassroots organizer and environmental health activist, was essential in the evacuation of the Love Canal neighborhood in Niagara Falls, NY in the late 70's due to environmental contamination.

In 1980, she formed the Citizens' Clearinghouse for Hazardous Waste, later renamed the Center for Health, Environment and Justice.

Gibbs presented "Lessons from Love Canal" on October 9, a seminar sponsored by the LHC, OPHP, and the Public Health Student Association.
