The 1917 Liver Clinic (located within The 1917 Clinic at UAB) is available to provide evaluation and treatment for HIV positive patients who are also infected with other viruses that affect the liver.

With effective HIV treatment and a decline in infections related to AIDS, liver failure related to viral hepatitis is emerging as a significant cause of disease and death.

Patients who test positive for Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C virus are referred from primary 1917 clinic providers.

The Liver Clinic has scheduled appointments on the 1st and 3rd Friday mornings. Routine standard of care treatment is provided as well as an opportunity to enroll in clinical trials.
