UAB places special emphasis on patient-oriented research programs through the UAB CCTS (https://www.uab.edu/ccts/). The CCTS Bioinformatics Institute developed a strong didactic training course in the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR), in which CF Research Center members contribute and trainees participate along with other training opportunities on research rigor and reproducibility including one-on-one mentorship, seminars provided by the Lister Hill Library, and graduate coursework (e.g., bioethics). The CCTS has also established research panels to aid in mentorship, accountability, and new grant applications.
