Research Interests:

Understanding of psychological and sociocultural factors associated with behavior change, particularly as it relates to engagement in healthy behaviors and preventive care among women and minorities. Specific areas of interest include: 

  • Sociocultural factors associated with cancer prevention and screening among minority women, particularly Latinas and African Americans
  • Tobacco control among women in the United States and Brazil
  • High risk behaviors among underserved populations (e.g., sedentary lifestyle, smoking)
  • Depressive symptomatology and correlates
  • Socioeconomic status and health outcomes
