Tanya Brecht

Tatiana “Tanya” Brecht has been selected as the Department of Medicine Employee of the Month for September 2018! Tanya is a Research Financial Admin in the Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics and Palliative Care. She was notified by Cynthia Brown, Division Director and Department of Medicine representative Shane Wiley, Interim Executive Administrator.

Tanya has been with the division for many years and is a valued member of the team. Tanya epitomizes the employee who goes “above and beyond” in her job and provides an unprecedented level of organization that aids in the successful execution of the randomized controlled trials. She is highly dependable in all aspects of her work by assisting other employees with grant submissions, even if not related to her own work. She has a strong desire to make those around her successful, as well as ensuring a rewarding and pleasant experience for study participants. Tanya seeks out training and other ways to improve her knowledge and strongly encourages her team members to do the same.

Tanya is very professional, kind and respectful to all staff and co-workers. She always makes an effort to ensure patients feel comfortable; which reflects in the patient interactions and the success studies have had in retaining participants. She always comes to work with a smile on her face and confronts adversity with a positive attitude. Tanya embodies the DOM staff mission by having high research integrity, high professionalism and effective collaboration skills with multiple teams at UAB and the VA.
