Hematology/Oncology Promotes Men’s Health for Movember

Each team member started clean-shaven and will grow facial hair throughout the month, so visit their site and vote for your favorite "mo." All proceeds go to the Movember Foundation.
Improving Odds for CF Patients
Professor Steve Rowe, MD, MSPHA two-drug combination therapy for cystic fibrosis improves lung function in patients with certain mutations in the CFTR gene responsible for the disease. In findings published in the New England Journal of Medicine, Steve Rowe, MD, MSPH (Professor, Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine) and UAB researchers report that the combination of tezacaftor and ivacaftor improved lung function by nearly 7 percent in a subset of patients.
Residents Enjoy Annual Camp Dismukes Retreat
The IM Residents turned out in droves despite the cold temperatures for the annual Camp Dismukes Retreat at Oak Mountain State Park. The entire training program was provided coverage so that residents and their families could enjoy the afternoon together.
Pulmonary Division Hosts Annual Fall Picnic

Over 130 people enjoyed the fall festivities. Drs. Guangjie (Jeff) Cheng and Gang Liu won the inaugural cornhole tournament, with Drs. Mike Wells and Jarrod Barnes finishing in second place.
