Dr. Andrea Cherrington, of UAB’s Division of Preventive Medicine, led the effort in creating a new website, Mydiabetesconnect.com.

This website is designed to link individuals affected by diabetes to local Birmingham and Jefferson County resources in order to promote healthy living and diabetes management. Resources can be found for a variety of needs including: healthy eating, physical activity, healthy families, support and education, healthcare and research opportunities.

Mydiabetesconnect.com was funded by UAB’s Diabetes & Research Training Center and the Cities for Life program. Cities for Life is a diabetes management pilot program led by the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation with support from Sanofi US. The goal of the program is to link Birmingham residents to existing programs and services that can help people live healthier lifestyles, reduce the risk of and encourage management of their diabetes. For more information about Cities for Life, please visit the AAFP Foundation website.
