Dr. Blayke Gibson serves as the Department of Emergency Medicine Assistant Medical Director for the University Emergency Department. She completed medical school at Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) and residency training at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). During residency, she was recognized as the Outstanding Emergency Medicine Resident and received the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Rud Polhill Award. Dr. Gibson completed an Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Fellowship at UAB.  She then completed the American College of Emergency Physicians Teaching Fellowship. She now trains emergency medicine students and residents in emergency bedside ultrasound technique and interpretation. Dr. Gibson also trains multiple services across the hospital in bedside emergency and critical care ultrasound applications.
