Biography
Dr. Burleson is a native of Jackson, Tennessee, and a graduate of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at UAB in 2017. He developed and completed a novel fellowship, Clinical Ultrasound in Resource Limited Settings, which focuses on the use of point-of-care ultrasound in settings where access to diagnostic imaging is limited and tropical diseases are common.
He is an assistant professor, director of the Clinical Ultrasound in Resource Limited Settings fellowship, and director of the emergency ultrasound medical student elective. He instructs medical students, residents, and fellows in point-of-care ultrasound and global health. He has worked and taught clinically in east and west Africa, southeast Asia, as well as Central and South America. He is also a member of Serious Infectious Disease Response Team at UAB Hospital.
