The Department of Emergency Medicine strives to build a culture of wellness for its faculty, staff, and residents. In 2021, the department formed its first ever Resilience Committee with a focus on fostering resilience through an active approach to improve wellness in all facets of the workplace. The committee meets regularly to assess current state, plan and implement efforts to foster a culture of wellness, and highlight available institutional resources.

The committee works to plan family-centered departmental events, conduct regular faculty wellness check-ins, and worked to provide dedicated wellness space in the office and in the emergency department. Each committee member is trained and participates as a member of the department's Peer Support Team, a resource which is available 24/7 to debrief after a difficult or stressful event. The committee aims to continue to participate in research as well as provide continued interventions aimed at a culture of wellness.
