Why Choose UAB Family Medicine?

The Family Medicine Clinic is conveniently located at UAB-Highlands, 4th floor, to better assist patients’ needs and provide optimal primary care for people of all ages. Our patient-friendly, and all-inclusive services, including on-site labs and radiology testing, ensure comprehensive and compassionate care for the whole family with “one stop.”

The Family Medicine team at UAB is comprised of board-certified family physicians who provide total and preventive care. Family Medicine encourages medical students to observe and participate to better understand Family Medicine in a hands-on, natural environment. All of our UAB specialists are available for further specialized testing and consultations.

Our patients are seen by appointment only. We do not have a “walk-in” clinic. We strive to provide urgent care the same day or within 24 hours. Routine follow-up appointments are generally available in 2-3 weeks; annual physicals and/or gynecological exams are normally available in 4-6 weeks.

If your insurance requires a referral before seeing a specialist, you must be evaluated by your primary care physician prior to being referred. Most insurance companies will not approve referrals retroactively.
