Rachel Kassel, M.D., Ph.D., Pediatric Gastroenterology, Catherine Gooch, M.D., PGY-4, Pediatric Genetics, and Samantha Patton, MS-2, UAB Genetics Summer Scholar, attended the RhizoKids Conference from July 17-21 at Children's Harbor.
Dr. Kassel discussed constipation management with parents and helped with exams and GI related advice. Dr. Gooch did a research survey about parental perceptions of neonatal care of children with Rhizomelic Chondrodysplasia Punctata (RCDP).

UAB Faculty and residents gathered at the Southeastern Regional Genetics Group 2019 meeting in Asheville, NC.

Ali Al-Beshri received the award for "Best Platform Presentation by a Trainee" at the SERGG 2019 meeting for his discussion on a rare genetic condition, mitochondrial disease, presented as a common chief complaint of chest pain.

Kate Mascia, UAB Pediatrics-Genetics combined resident, presents her research on "Attitudes of Deaf Individuals on Genetic Testing" at the SERGG 2019 meeting.
