In 2003, the administrative, educational, and clinical programs for the University of Alabama School of Medicine Huntsville Regional Medical Campus moved together into a new 93,000 square foot facility.
Located in the downtown Medical District, HRMC is the site for core clinical services provided by the Huntsville faculty, residents and medical students. Patient care centers include family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics and psychiatry. In addition to patient care centers, the first two floors of the HRMC house support services such as medical records, the laboratory, maintenance, purchasing, and patient services. An on-site independent pharmacy, medical equipment retail shop and the VA Outpatient Medical Clinic are also located in the clinical space. HRMC serves a wide variety of patients on a fee-for-service basis.
The third floor serves as the academic center of the HRMC. Here you will find the associate dean's office; The J. Ellis Sparks, M.D. Medical Library; medical student affairs; the family medicine residency program; information services; student and resident lounges; conference rooms; and faculty offices for family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics and surgery. The auditorium, which seats 128 classroom style, is used for weekly grand rounds taught by Huntsville and visiting faculty.
