At UAB, collaboration is at the core of our research enterprise. On campus, university-wide interdisciplinary research centers (UWIRC) bring faculty together from across disciplines and specialties to research strategic topics such as neuroscience, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease.

Beyond campus, we work with several extraordinary partners. Some include Southern Research Institute, a nonprofit, incorporated affiliate of UAB with more than 400 scientists and engineers; Innovation Depot, one of the nation's best biotechnology business incubators; and HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, a nonprofit institute in Huntsville, Alabama, where scientists, educators, and entrepreneurs translate the power of genomics into real world results. These partners and more help to expand our research capacity.

You’ll also find School of Medicine researchers collaborating in countries all over the world, as well as in rural and economically disadvantaged areas of Alabama.
