During COVID-19, our program’s top priority has remained the health and safety of patients and residents. We have taken several tangible steps to protect our residents during the pandemic:

  1. All residents wear masks in interaction with patients and team members.

  2. All patients receive COVID-19 testing on admission.

  3. As able, clinical assignments are adjusted to accommodate residents who are most at-risk.

  4. Residents with a COVID-19 exposure or symptoms have a designated faculty point-of-contact. The contact counsels them on processes and facilitates testing and care.

  5. Resident salaries have not been affected by COVID.

In addition to clinical care, we have adapted our educational curriculum in consideration of physical distancing. Our full slate of educational conferences are offered virtually so that residents remain engaged with their colleagues and continue to learn during these trying times.

Although COVID-19 has had a tremendous impact on residency, we remain committed to educating and protecting our residents. Our program remains optimistic that wonderful physicians will emerge from this challenging time, fully prepared to care for their patients and to be leaders in medicine.
