Social Committee

Though our residents enjoy team bonding over long call days in the workrooms, we know that spending time together outside the hospital is one of the most important ways to enrich those bonds. The Social Committee plans an event each month with program funds to support these activities. Regular events include watching our minor league baseball team (the Birmingham Barons) and happy hours at the local breweries. Other recent events include family bowling night and TopGolf

Community Service Committee

The community service committee, through collaboration with local organizations, aims to provide participants with opportunities to give back to the community and have fun with fellow residents outside the hospital. One of our recurring and most popular projects involves packing and delivering fresh produce to approximately 150 low-income seniors with East Lake Farmers Market. Each winter and spring, we serve dinner to 50-75 patients undergoing cancer treatments and their families at Hope Lodge. Other recent projects have included volunteering at a community health fair with pediatrics residents and organizing a residency-wide canned food drive.
