Please join us for the Informatics Institute PowerTalk Seminar Series-Clinical Informatics with Wayne Liang, M.D., Assistant Professor
UAB School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology/Oncology, Informatics Institute.  The seminar is titled "Transforming Cancer Clinical Research & Care Delivery through Clinical Informatics."

Abstract: Precision medicine and data science are transforming the field of oncology. Modern cancer treatments are becoming more and more tailored toward each patient's unique tumor profile and clinical characteristics. The explosion of cancer-related data represents an opportunity for new avenues of research to improve cancer outcomes. However, existing care delivery infrastructure and information systems are not well equipped to take advantage of this explosion of data. In this presentation, we will highlight national and local cancer clinical informatics efforts to trans-form cancer clinical research and care delivery, including: 1. New ways of capturing cancer-related clinical and research data; 2. Novel methods of deriving insights from data; and 3. Deliv-ering best evidence treatment and clinical trials recommendations to the bedside.
