The UAB Informatics Institute invites you to participate in a special symposium that showcases scientific findings from the UAB COVID-19 Data Science Hackathon. The COVID-19 Data Science Hackathon Showcase will be Friday, June 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. over Zoom.
The UAB COVID-19 Data Science Hackathon was a two-day intensive coding event held on June 15-16, 2020. During the Hackathon diverse interdisciplinary biomedical scientists, trainees, software engineers, and faculty investigators met virtually through Zoom, to leverage on both public and UAB-specific COVID-19 data sets and perform data analysis on the new UAB Biomedical Research Information Technology Enhancement Commons Program (U-BRITE). Participants of the Hackathon formed 11 teams and worked over the two days to develop solutions using data sets stored or managed in U-BRITE and promote learning and collaboration about new tools, software, and technologies for data science. Many scientists from UAB and around the country answered our call, developing innovative research and making the Hackathon a great success
Hackathon teams who were selected as finalists to compete for the top three awards of the Hackathon will be presenting at this symposium.
Join us as the teams present their new COVID-19 findings from the entire biomedical research spectrum driven by data and data science tools developed or curated at UAB.
