Grant support tasks will include gathering documents needed for submissions. This individual will schedule CNET meetings and arrange catering. This position will coordinate special events and assist with recruitment and guest speaker visits. This position will also submit maintenance, housekeeping, and concierge construction services requests, both for routine issues and for preparing space for new faculty. Position Summary
A full-time Researcher IV position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Yacoubian at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, AL. The research focus of this lab is understanding mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s disease and related neurodegenerative diseases. Both cellular and in vivo rodent models are used to examine neurodegenerative processes in Parkinson’s disease. Duties for the position will involve designing, conducting, and interpreting studies to understand mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease in both cellular and in vivo models. The candidate will be expected to summarize and analyze data in concert with the lab PI. The candidate will also be expected to help in writing of manuscripts and provide help with grant writing. A desirable candidate will have previous experience in a neuroscience laboratory working with rodent models, including behavioral testing, genotyping, stereotaxic injections, perfusions, sectioning, staining, and confocal microscopy. Other desirable skills includes primary cell culture and biochemical assays. The candidate will be expected to have experience working independently and within a team setting, multiple tools for organization, and excellent communication skills. The candidate will also be expected to help in writing manuscripts and providing figures for grant proposals.
