UAB Department of Neurosurgery Patient Services Coordinator II Tammy Mitchell was honored for 20 years of service at the annual UAB Service Awards which honors those employees who have made a substantial career commitment to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The program was designed to acknowledge and illustrate gratitude to employees at each five-year milestone of service to UAB.

Mitchell began her career at UAB in 1998 through a temp service. She has been a member of the UAB Department of Neurosurgery since September of 1999. While her titles have changed throughout her time at UAB, her job has predominately consisted of scheduling patient appointments and being a patient service specialist.

“Working at UAB has been like a roller coaster ride, up down up down, over and under. So exciting, scary and thrilling. Never knowing what is around the corner. Like roller coaster rides, I love UAB and Neurosurgery,” said Mitchell.

The UAB Service Awards were held on March 6 in the Hill Student Center ballroom. See the complete list of the 2020 service awards recipients here.
