Zimmerman receives scholarship to achieve global education dreams

Kathrin Zimmerman, a third-year medical student, was awarded a position as a Paul Farmer Global Surgery Research Associate, and she recieved support from the Office of International Medical Education to help make this dream a reality.

First-year medical students honored at annual White Coat Ceremony

On Sunday, Aug. 12, the UAB School of Medicine welcomed 186 students in the entering class of 2018 and presented them with their first white coats at the annual White Coat Ceremony at UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center.

School of Medicine orientation welcomes the 2018 incoming class

The School of Medicine welcomed its first-year medical students with an orientation July 23-27. During the weeklong orientation, the 2018 incoming class enjoyed academic sessions from faculty members and breakout sessions led by a group of second-year medical students who served as orientation leaders.

Tuscaloosa Regional Campus students awarded primary care scholarships

Five UAB School of Medicine students completing their clinical educations at the Tuscaloosa Regional Campus are among the recipients of the new Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama primary care scholarships. Blue Cross provided $3.6 million to the School of Medicine for the primary care scholarships to train a total of 60 primary care physicians over five years.

Match Day 2018 set for March 16

The School of Medicine will celebrate Match Day 2018 on Friday, March 16, at the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center, when members of the graduating class learn in which medical specialties they have “matched” and where they will carry out their residency trainings.
