Your vote will help the UAB Supportive Care and Survivorship Clinical Program receive funding from LIVESTRONG’s Community Impact Project. UAB has applied for grant funding from LIVESTRONG for an artists-in-residence program for cancer patients. The program is competing with seven other hospitals, cancer centers and community organizations in an online vote on that ends at 5 p.m. on March 28.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham's Supportive Care and Survivorship Clinic is the only one of its type in a three-state area.  More than 5,000 patients are treated in UAB cancer programs annually, and the focus of the Supportive Care and Survivorship Clinical Program is to provide an extra layer of support and care to cancer patients from diagnosis to survivorship.  The LIVESTRONG grant will support patients by giving them an outlet to express themselves through art (visual, performing and literary).   The Supportive Care and Survivorship Program at UAB has a longstanding commitment to arts in healing, and also has the infrastructure necessary to ensure this program's success.  With the LIVESTRONG Foundation funding this program has the potential to support patients in a way that wouldn't be possible otherwise.
