Raegan Durant, M.D., MPH, associate professor in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Preventive Medicine, is the senior faculty winner of the Dean’s Excellence Award in Diversity Enhancement.
William A. Curry, M.D., MACP, has been elected Governor of the Alabama Chapter of the American College of Physicians, the national organization of internists. Curry will serve a year as Governor-elect, after which he will succeed UAB colleague Gustavo R. Heudebert, M.D., MACP, in the role.
Vineeta Kumar, M.D., associate professor in the Department of Medicine, has received the 2017 Brewer-Heslin Endowed Award for Professionalism in Medicine, given annually to a physician at UAB who demonstrates extraordinary commitment to providing highly skilled and deeply compassionate medical care.
The UAB School of Medicine has lost a beloved colleague and an incomparable role model in William E. “Bill” Dismukes, M.D., MACP. He died June 19 at age 78.
