Keith M. Swetz, M.D., MA, FACP, section chief and medical director of Palliative Care at the Birmingham VA Medical Center and associate professor in the Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics and Palliative Care at the UAB School of Medicine has been named editor of the Journal of Palliative Care.

“I consider myself very fortunate to have been named as the new Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Palliative Care, succeeding Dr. David Roy,” Swetz said. “I look forward to carrying on his legacy, while ushering a new, exciting era for JPC with SAGE Publishing. Our editorial board and publishing team will be working hard to bring the journal to the forefront of this rapidly evolving field of palliative care.”

SAGE Publishing announced that it has begun publishing the JPC, an international and interdisciplinary outlet for practical, critical thought on palliative care and palliative medicine. As a quarterly journal the JPC published 12 types of papers including reports of original research, opinion papers and commentaries, narratives and humanities works, current reviews, case reports, book reviews and reports on international activities and comparative palliative care.
