There are two very important NIH grant deadlines—Feb. 12 and Feb. 16—to consider in case of another government shutdown. If Congress does not pass a spending bill by 12:01 a.m. Feb. 9, then a shutdown will occur, and the NIH and other federal entities may reschedule grant deadlines or elect to have proposals wait for the next cycle. For the below NIH grant deadlines, the UAB Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) strongly encourages investigators to submit final grant applications to OSP for submission to NIH no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, before the possible shutdown occurs.

- Feb. 16—R03, R21, R33, R21/R33, R34, R36, U34, UH2, UH3, UH2/UH3 - Other Research Grants and Cooperative Agreements
There is a possibility of delayed reviews and start dates as federal agencies will not take any actions on grant applications or awards during a shutdown.
