Linda Overstreet-Wadiche, Ph.D., associate professor in the UAB Department of Neurobiology, has been named chairperson of the Neurogenesis and Cell Fate Study Section for the Center for Scientific Review in Bethesda, Maryland.
“Members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors,” said Noni Byrnes, Ph.D., acting director of the Center for Scientific Review. Overstreet-Wadiche will participate in assuring the quality of the NIH peer review process.
Overstreet-Wadiche earned her Ph.D. from Northwestern University Medical School in 1997. From 1998-2004, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Vollum Institute, where she later became a research assistant professor. Overstreet-Wadiche has been an assistant professor in the Department of Neurobiology at UAB since 2006. Her research focus areas are neurodevelopment and developmental disabilities; learning, memory and synaptic plasticity; ion channels and synaptic function; and neurotransmitter and neurotrophin receptors and cell signaling.
Overstreet-Wadiche’s term begins July 1 and will be effective until June 30, 2019.
