Inaugural ENRICH Week events planned for Sept. 22-24

Enrich weekEducational Research & Innovations in Clinical & Health Sciences (ENRICH) Week, an annual conference for health educators that promotes teaching skills, fosters curriculum innovation, and showcases scholarship and research findings in health education, will have its first slate of events Sept. 22-24.

Formerly RIME Week, ENRICH Week was renamed this year to be reflective of the interprofessional collaboration that is essential to the mission of the Healthcare Educators Academy, which now leads the education-focused event.

“The mission of the HEA is to advance the development of faculty in the health professions throughout UAB by strengthening educators through mentorship, fostering a culture of excellence in teaching, developing innovative teaching resources across disciplines and advancing a collaborative teaching environment,” said Caroline Harada, M.D., associate dean for Community Engaged Scholarship in the School of Medicine and Healthcare Educators Academy co-chair.

The week will begin with the ENRICH Week Plenary Session from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22 via Zoom, in which the 2020 HEA mentees will present in a series of 10-minute presentations. Categories will be announced before the session, and attendees are welcome to move between plenary presentations based on their interests.  Register for the Plenary Session via Zoom

Mukta Panda, M.D., MACP, FRCP-London, professor and assistant dean for Medical Student Education and Well-Being in the Department of Medicine (Chattanooga) and Department of Medical Education (Memphis) at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, will present “Weaving Meaning and Well-Being with Narrative Medicine” during the Keynote Presentation at Medical Grand Rounds from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23. The ENRICH Week Fellows Workshop, titled “Survive - and Thrive- in the Virtual Educational Space,” from 8-10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24 via Zoom. Register for the Fellows Workshop.
