PDC names new leadership

Written by

PDC Leadership Khushman and Lee 01The UAB Pancreatobiliary Disease Center (PDC), led by Director and Assistant Professor J. Bart Rose, MD, MAS, FACS, has named two new leaders in the areas of medical oncology and pathology.

Moh’d Khushman, M.D., Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology, has been named Head of Medical Oncology for the PDC while Goo Lee, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology, has been named Head of Pathology for the PDC.

The PDC is designed to provide cutting-edge multi-disciplinary care for diseases of the pancreas and bile duct by bringing together all members of a patient’s care team. Its model involves a thorough initial assessment of each patient's case, followed by same-day testing and/or intervention, if necessary.

Khushman, as the new Head of Medical Oncology for the PDC, will collaborate with other leaders in the PDC to determine best routes of care for pancreas and bile duct cancers and continue to support innovative clinical trials. Khushman joined the faculty of UAB earlier this year.

As Head of Pathology for the PDC, Lee will attend a monthly meeting to develop consensus around treatment and program development and will continue to provide support for the weekly pancreatobiliary disease tumor board. Lee joined the faculty of UAB in 2018.

“Drs. Khushman and Lee will do a wonderful job in their new roles in the PDC,” said Rose. “They have already show a tremendous dedication to advancing treatment for pancreatobiliary diseases and improving the lives of our patients.”
