Community Engagement Institute Symposium Oct. 21

cctsThis Friday, Oct. 21 the Center for Clinical and Translational Science will host the 2022 Community Engagement Institute Symposium, a virtual event seeking to collectively harness experience and perspectives surrounding complex topics.

This year’s theme addresses barriers to health equity and ways that communities can work together to build momentum toward sustainable change. This year's event features an incredible slate of speakers, including:

  • Caroline Compretta, Ph.D., co-director of the Mississippi Center for Clinical and Translational Research Community Engaged Research Core and Mississippi CEAL MPI and assistant professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center
  • LaKeisha Williams, Pharm.D., MSPH, director of Community Engagement and Outreach at the Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities, Research and Education and clinical associate professor at Xavier University of Louisiana
  • JaTaune Bosby Gilchrist, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Alabama

The CCTS is also pleased to host keynote speaker Sofia Gruskin, J.D., MIA, director of USC’s Institute on Inequalities in Global Health and professor of Preventative Medicine and Law.

There will also be presentations by Forge AHEAD Center Scholars.

The CEI Symposium is a collaboration of the CCTS Partner Network, the Center for the Study of Community Health, the Forge AHEAD Center and the communities we serve.
