Additionally, five individuals from the inaugural class will be continuing for a second year in the program. They are: William Benton, M.D. (Internal Medicine); Anna Hurst, M.D. (Genetics); Tiffany Jackson, M.D. (Emergency Medicine); Rajat Kalra, M.D. (Internal Medicine); Daniel Pasko, M.D. (OBGYN).

"We were extremely pleased with our experience during the first year of the program and are excited to build upon that foundation to create a unique program for residents and fellows interested in quality and patient safety," said Loring Rue, M.D., chief medical officer for UAB Medicine. "The diversity of the chief quality residents selected for the program, the concepts covered during lectures throughout the year, and the projects selected by each individual make the program unique and meaningful."
