“I’m just very excited to work with such a great group of people at UAB,” Hwang said. “The UAB Burn Center has a rich history and tradition which we all hope to expand and build upon. Dr. Alan Dimick has been one of the great pioneers in burn care, and I look forward to the opportunity to help create his vision in our Burn Center.”
Hwang completed his residency in general surgery at State University of New York at Buffalo, followed by fellowship training in burn surgery at the University of South Florida and a surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Florida in Jacksonville. He has been on faculty at the University of North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center since 2010.
