UAB and UAB Medicine have begun the enterprise implementation of OnCore, a management system for clinical trials and study-related information. The system is being expanded across the School of Medicine in three waves, with the first wave focused on the Department of Medicine.
Bradley Wills, M.D., a PGY-4 resident in the UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, won first place for his poster titled, "Outcomes with Overlapping Surgery at a Large Academic Medical Center."
The School of Medicine hosted its annual scholarship dinner at the UAB National Alumni Society House on Friday, Oct. 27.
Daniel A. Portnoy, Ph.D., one of the world’s foremost experts on Listeria monocytogenes, will speak at the 2017 Susan Roberts Dubay Endowed Lecture on Nov. 7. 
Winners of the 2017 Argus Awards were announced at the ceremony held Friday, Sept. 8. The awards are given each year by medical students to honor their professors and course directors for excellence in medical education.
Ellen Rothenberg, Ph.D., professor of biology at the California Insitute of Technology, will be the keynote speaker at the inaugural David E. Wells Memorial Symposium, hosted by the Department of Microbiology.

The President’s Award for Excellence in Support of UAB and Shared Governance is given to a faculty member, staff member, or student who exemplifies and embodies the UAB core value of unity of purpose through shared governance.
School of Medicine faculty were nominated by students for the 2017 Argus Awards. Winners of the awards will be announced at the annual ceremony on Sept. 8.
