Biography

Dr. Luke Hiatt earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center, during which time he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During his residency training, he developed an interest in the treatment of spinal conditions and deformities and elected to pursue subspecialized training in spine surgery.

He then completed a spine surgery fellowship at the University of California, Davis. Following completion of his spine training, he elected to stay in California, and he joined a private practice in Roseville, California. During his time in private practice, he developed a practice focused on both minimally invasive procedures for the correction of degenerative spine conditions, as well as complex techniques for the treatment of severe spinal deformities.

After practicing in California for over 4 years, Dr. Hiatt and his family elected to relocate back to Birmingham, which is his wife’s hometown. After consideration of both private and academic appointments, he elected to accept a faculty appointment at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Hiatt is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition to clinical practice, he has worked in a consulting role with the industry for the validation of spinal implants as well as served as a spine expert for medicolegal cases. He looks forward to meeting you and developing a care plan to best treat your condition and restore your prior level of function.
