(Left to Right) Modern distal femur replacement, customized design for pelvic reconstruction, and 3D pre-op computerized model plan.The UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Division of Surgical Oncology, supported by Herrick Siegel, M.D., and Lisa Kafchinski, M.D., seeks to further the boundaries of know cancer research for muscoloskeletal oncology. It is one of the busiest centers in the Southeast for the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors. It employs cutting edge techniques and prosthetic devices to maximize functional outcomes and the patient's quality of life. The center has performed hundreds of successful limb salvage surgeries using the most advanced orthopaedic implants available.

The center's research aims to support these clinical endeavors, improving orthopaedic surgical oncology procedures for patients across the nation.
