Please e-mail the help desk at firstname.lastname@example.org. Your e-mail will normally be answered within 24 to 48 hours. This response time is followed during working hours Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm (CST). Expect more time for a response if your e-mail is sent during the weekend or on holidays.
Emergency and Urgent Issues during Regular Business Hours
For an emergency and/or urgent issue with the following criteria:
- A computer malfunction which interrupts your work and such work completion cannot wait more than 24 hours.
- A computer malfunction or problem that affects more than one computer in your area.
Call the Pathology IT Help Desk at 4-6610. Tim, Kerry, Garrett or Israel will answer the phone to begin addressing the situation. If the lines are busy, your will be prompted by the voice mail to leave a message. Please leave your name, UAB phone number and a brief description of your emergency. A technician will contact you within 15 minutes to assess your situation.
Emergency and Urgent Issues after hours
For Emergency and Urgent issues after business hours, weekends or holidays, please contact PATHIS by dialing 4-6610. If no one answers, you will be prompted to leave a message. Please leave your name, UAB number and a brief message explaining the nature of the emergency. The on-call technician will contact you within 30 minutes to assess the situation.
Oracle, Horizon, IDX, WebCT, and others
There are some pieces of the software used by the department that other UAB entities and IT department (such as HSIS and other places) support. Pathology IT cannot always fix issues with these applications, depending on the problem with the specific application, PATHIS might need to re-direct you to another Help Desk on campus. The PATHIS technician will determine this and forward you to the correct support group. PATHIS will continue to follow up with you until the issue is resolved.
No support is given for users at home or personal PCs or personal computer equipment.
Work Order System
PATHIS has its own WORK ORDER SYSTEM online. It is currently accessible by logging into http://helpdesk.path.uab.edu/AeXHD/guest/default.aspx. Please place your work orders through this system if you rather not use the e-mail approach at email@example.com.
If your issue is an emergency, please call 4-6610 for the issue to be addressed in a timely fashion.
