The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine provides services to patients with life-threatening diseases in the new 22 bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s of Alabama. Located within the Department of Pediatrics, the Division includes 9 faculty members, and 6 sub-specialty trainees.  It is a mixed medical-surgical, pediatric and adolescent unit with emphasis on cardiopulmonary, neurological and surgical problems including; respiratory failure, pneumonia, croup, asthma, near drowning, acute renal failure, child abuse, complex and refractory seizure disorders, meningitis, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, ingestions, diabetes, neurosurgery, trauma, facial reconstructions and scoliosis.
