Dr. Westin earned his Ph.D. in genetics from the University of Iowa. Dr. Westin recently completed his postdoctoral fellowship in biochemistry and molecular genetics at UAB. His clinical and research interests include studying the mechanisms related to blood and bone marrow failure disorders such as Dyskeratosis Congenita and Diamond Blackfan anemia in addition to research that utilizes CRISPR to correct underlying genetic mutations in patients’ cells.
