The Department of Pediatrics (DOP) at UAB Heersink School of Medicine and UAB Hospital Graduate Medical Education Office, is eager to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Visiting Student Elective Scholarship for Pediatrics.
The Visiting Student Elective Scholarship provides funding for visiting fourth-year medical students to participate in four-week clinical rotations in the DOP located at Children’s of Alabama. The DOP’s goal is to improve awareness of and accessibility to training opportunities in Pediatrics at UAB amongst medical students from varied backgrounds and experiences. All students are encouraged to apply. Scholarship recipients will select their clinical rotation on a space-available basis.

Program Benefits

  • Four-week rotation as an elective student (for course listings, visit the course catalog).

  • $2000 stipend to offset travel, housing, and living expenses

  • Access to UAB’s medical library, Lister Hill Library, will be provided

  • Networking opportunities with faculty, residents, and students

Applicant Eligibility

  • Must be a fourth-year student in good standing at an accredited U.S. allopathic or osteopathic medical school who has completed core rotations in pediatrics, internal medicine, ob/gyn, and surgery.

  • Must have successfully passed USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX 1
