Theresa Caridi, M.D., FSIR, is a clinical associate professor of Interventional Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and medical director for Varian Interventional Solutions, a Siemens Healthineers Company. As a result of her longstanding dedication to the study of women’s health interventions and advocacy for women’s health patients, she holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UAB.

After attending the University of Florida for medical school and Radiology residency, Dr. Caridi completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania. The first seven years of her career were spent at Georgetown in Washington, D.C., before joining the faculty at UAB to serve as the division director for Interventional Radiology and vice chair of Interventional Affairs for the Department of Radiology from 2020-2023.

Dr. Caridi has been an active member of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), serving on the executive council for many years, most recently as chair of the SIR Foundation Board of Directors from 2022-2023.

Special interests include the minimally invasive treatment of uterine fibroids and other uterine conditions, pelvic venous insufficiency/varicocele, prostate hyperplasia, knee osteoarthritis, and pulmonary arteriovenous malformations. She is a national/international lecturer, reviewer, and active publisher on research related to these topics. Dr. Caridi’s care includes the full spectrum of image-guided procedures and along with her team, she strives to provide treatment for her patients in the same manner she would want for her own family member.
