Jason A. Pietryga, M.D. is a board-certified radiologist. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan followed by medical school at Washington University in Saint Louis. After completing a transitional year at St. John Hospital & Medical Center in Detroit, MI, he completed his radiology residency training at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Pietryga then completed a fellowship in abdominal imaging at Duke University Medical Center. In 2014, Dr. Pietryga joined the faculty in the Body Imaging Section of the Department of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham after working for one year in a community practice in Toledo, Ohio.
Dr. Pietryga has served on the UAB Radiology Resident Selection Committee and is currently serving as the UAB department of radiology physician site chief for The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital. Nationally, he is on the Gastrointestinal Radiology Subcommittee of the Scientific Program Committee (SPC) for the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) as well as on Research Committee of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound (SRU). Dr. Pietryga also serves as a reviewer for the radiology journals Radiology and Abdominal Imaging.
Dr. Pietryga’s area of clinical practice and research focus is abdominal and pelvic imaging and image-guided procedures. He has authored multiple research articles on various aspects of abdominal imaging, including liver MRI, bariatric imaging and image-guided procedures.
