Dr. Asim K. Bag completed medical school and residency in Diagnostic Radiology in Medical College, Kolkata, India. He completed fellowships in neuroradiology, vascular & interventional radiology and nuclear medicine here at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He joined the faculty position in 2011.

A respected radiologist, Dr. Bag’s recent selection as one of the SAM Editors of the Clinical Nuclear Medicine journal is his most recent accomplishment. He also holds professional memberships to several national and international radiological societies. He is also a member of the Board of Directors, American College of Nuclear Medicine; Young Professional Committee, American Society of Neuroradiology. He enjoys spending time with the residents and fellows and has won several best teacher awards.

Dr. Bag is a dedicated researcher with research interest in application of advanced MRI/molecular imaging technologies for brain tumor diagnosis, preoperative planning, and prediction of treatment response and early detection of recurrence. He won the Outstanding Visiting Scholar Award by University of Alabama Birmingham, Birmingham, AL for accomplishments, publications, professional performance, teaching and research in 2010; Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award by RSNA in Recognition of Outstanding Radiology Research in 2011. He is also young consultant to the Editor-in-chief, the American Journal of Neuroradiology. Dr. Bag is also a prolific writer.
