Robert E. Koehler, M.D., FACR, received an AB Degree from Johns Hopkins University and an MD from Cornell University Medical College. He was an exchange student in Tropical Medicine at the Hospital das Clinicas, University of Bahia, Salvador, Brazil.  He was a full grade surgeon at the United States Public Health Service and a member of the Epidemic Intelligence Service at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, GA.  Dr. Koehler served his radiology residency at the University of California in San Francisco and continued there with his Fellowship in Gastrointestinal Radiology.  Since coming to the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Dr. Koehler has served as a professor, then as the Witten-Stanley Endowed Chair of Radiology from 2003-2009, and has served as director/chair/or committee member on numerous local, national and international committees. Dr. Koehler’s area of clinical practice is Gastrointestinal Radiology.
