Don Benson, M.D., Ph.D., received his BS in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Central Arkansas. He then received a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Notre Dame before attending medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he also completed his internship and Radiology residency. He subsequently completed consecutive fellowships in Clinical MRI and Cardiothoracic Imaging at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. After spending three years as assistant professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, he made the move to the Department of Radiology at UAB where he serves in the Cardiopulmonary Imaging Section.
