Wound Healing is a complex process in which the skin and surrounding tissues repair themselves after injury. Post-traumatic regenerative repair of wounds is a fundamental aspect of recovery from most surgical procedures and conditions necessitating surgery. The Department of Surgery's wound healing research aims to understand and improve wound healing through advances in the use of bioengineering and regenerative medicine materials, advanced stem cell technology and drug and materials development.
