Living with cancer can prove isolating for patients, caregivers and loved ones. Stuart Pimsler Dance Theater and the University of Alabama at Birmingham are inviting members of the Birmingham community impacted by cancer to share their experiences for a March 14 performance.
UAB Institute for Arts in Medicine and critically acclaimed SPDT, a Minneapolis-based performing arts company, will present its National Endowment for the Arts project, “Raising Our Voices: Stories of Cancer told through Movement, Music and Voice,” on Saturday, March 14, at UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center.
Information sessions for interested individuals will be at noon and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at UAB’s Alys Stephens Center, with SPDT co-artistic directors Suzanne Costello and Stuart Pimsler. Participants are invited to share their experiences in a series of workshops from Feb. 28-March 14. Cast members will be assigned specific times within the two-week period.
