Run at your own pace or forgo the race completely and support student scholarships at the University of Alabama at Birmingham on Saturday, April 25.
This year, the UAB National Alumni Society will still host the 14th annual UAB National Alumni Society Scholarship Run, presented by Viva Health, but in a new way. Due to the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the 2020 UAB NAS Scholarship Run will be held virtually.
A virtual run is a great way to stay active during social distancing and relieve some stress, while contributing to student scholarships. The NAS will still have options for a 5K and 10K, along with a non-running option. You can run anywhere you want: The course can be flat, fast, brutal with hills, completed on a treadmill or, for non-runners, from your couch. The choice is yours.
Started in 2007, the Scholarship Run has allowed the NAS to raise nearly $810,000 to help support student scholarships. The Scholarship Run was established as an exceptional race through the streets of the UAB campus and downtown Birmingham.
To participate on April 25, simply complete the distance you registered for and log your time through the RunSignUp website. All participants (5K, 10K and non-runners) will receive a packet in the mail with a T-shirt, finisher medal and drink ticket redeemable at an upcoming UAB NAS football tailgate.
Registration through RunSignUp is open online. The cost is $35. Currently enrolled UAB students receive a $10 discount. Visit alumni.uab.edu for more information.
