The Gulf States Newsroom was launched in February 2020. WWNO and WRKF in Louisiana, WBHM in Alabama, Mississippi Public Broadcasting, and NPR work together as a regional newsroom to plan coverage, share resources and add reporting power. Working together, the stations are better able to coordinate and expand their local and regional reporting, as well as provide content to national broadcast news programs and digital platforms. With support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and NPR, this innovative collaboration is increasing coverage of news events in a region at the intersection of many of today’s most pressing issues.
